Have I mentioned that I'm obsessed with my dog? If you're one of those people who thinks humans shouldn't value their dogs as much as any other human in their family, you can just go ahead and leave. ;)

But really. I love her more than my husband. Is? That? Bad? (kind of joking)

Anyways, Earth Day was this past weekend and there is a huge festival that goes on all weekend downtown. It's great fun and I discovered I love non-dairy ice cream, but hate paper spoons. But this is a story for another day.

We checked out the festival, but it didn't quite have that earthy feeling I was needing since it was Earth Day and all. So, we decided to drive an hour north to a place a few of our friends had told us about. Behold, the beautiful and vast Figueroa Mountain. We were told each Spring, there are endless amounts of wildflowers that grace the maintain side. Sadly, we didn't find any this year, or perhaps didn't go far up enough. This is the result of not filling up our gas tank before driving and having a husband that errs on the side of caution. I kept begging him to drive "just another 5 minutes." But I guess enough was enough. We'll just have to wait for next year. We did catch an absolutely gorgeous sunset, and it was clearly a sight to see regardless of the lack of wildflowers. It was completely serene and I can't think of a more perfect place to soak in the beauty of our earth.

If you're in the Santa Barbara/Santa Ynez/Los Olivos area, and love a scenic view, you definitely need to take a drive up to Figueroa Mountain. It's a gem.

*Getting there: We just typed in "Figueroa Mountain Road" into Google Maps and it brought us right where we needed to go.
