I'm A Lucky Girl

It all started with a video...
(Press play)

Then I said yes.

And just like that I became the happiest girl in the world.

Just kidding. (Jake, please don't disown me as your fiance for posting that video.) Although a proposal like that would have been a class act, my Jacob did something far more classy than that. Hard to imagine, I know.

This is how it all went down...

June 22, 2012
4:35PM: Jake surprises me outside of work dressed all cute-like in my favorite pants of his. There's something about those rust colored pants that just do it for me and put me in the best mood.
5:45PM: I hadn't really gotten ready that day so we go back to my apartment so I can get ready. One hour and 15 minutes later, I finally finish my hair and make-up because I'm a girl and that's how long it takes. Don't ask questions.
6:30PM: We pull up to the Copper Onion in Salt Lake. I'm the happiest already simply because food is about to happen. Food is my friend. It makes me happy. But then again so does Jakums.
8:00PM: We drive back to Orem. The entire drive, I'm snapping pictures of the insane, fiery sunset because it's the most unreal thing I've ever laid eyes on. There had been a couple fires in Utah that day so there was this magical orange/pink smoke that enveloped the sky. Insane I tell ya.
8:45PM: We pull into Jake's apartment complex. I'm being a major brat at this point. (Sorry!) He then proceeds to have me climb up three different ladders and crawl across shingles to this flat rooftop area that we've been trying to get up to for quite some time. I was floored. There was too much natural beauty for me to even take in. This unreal sunset had captured my attention but in the coming minutes  Jake had managed to make me lose myself in him. He had a table set up with my favorite flowers and the ring. He said a bunch of cute words (that I don't remember at all. Something like "I love you and I want to be with you for the rest of my life." Hopefully at least...) and the next thing I know, the love of my life is down on one knee asking me to marry him. It was the most surreal moment of my life to date and I was so caught up in the moment that I forgot to say yes. I was this hyper, giddy mess and just kept jumping and/or galloping in place. Giddy mess I tell you, giddy mess.

Jake's older brother and his wife were hiding, perched on the side of the roof taking pictures and videos of the entire thing like Asian ninjas. I'm so grateful that they were able to capture that special moment for us.

Jake then took me to his deck area where his mom and sister and helped him set up this gorgeous area with glitter, rose petals, and lights everywhere. But it didn't stop there. Nope it didn't. Jake's sweet sis helped him make a TEEPEE. (Guys, you KNOW how much I LOVE teepees right?? Of course you do. I only talk about them on the daily.) Is it possible to be floored so many times in one night?

I couldn't/can't stop staring at my ring. It is the epitome of perfection and Jake keeps calling me Gollum.  Rude? Not in the slightest. More like accurate.

And with that I give you "the sap portion." Sorry for doing this to you guys. I'm just in loveeee and want to scream it from teepee-tops!

*Commence sap portion*
I've always been lucky. I have this thing with winning things. It's kind of weird really. I've won a bicycle, a tent set, a hot-air balloon ride, two blog give-aways, a DVD player, a photo-album thing, etcetcetc. Yet out of everything that I've won, I have to say that the best prize I've ever won is this man that I'll get to call my husband. He's my guy and I sit here, typing this in wonderment, thinking about what I did to deserve such an amazing man. We have that out-of-control love. That I-live-to-love-you kind of thing that no one else could ever replace. This special love does not just happen. It isn't found in your pockets. It's a gift and it's only given to the lucky. It's something rare and beautiful and I'm so happy to call it mine for the rest of the eternities.

I'm a lucky girl.

Sneaking some pics because that's my life calling. To be a stealth picture-taker. I'm so cool.
My pork chop with egg, asparagus, and polenta. Holy good. Get in ma belly. Again.
Peonies. You're so pretty.
Right after. Lalala :)
So much more that I could have ever dreamed of.

Legs look way chubs here. I blame it on the fact that I was on my period.

Bah-ling-a-ling
Close-up.
